Cal Maritime back in action on Wednesday

The California Maritime Academy men's basketball team has been selected as the No. 15 seed in the NAIA Division II national playoffs beginning in Point Lookout, Missouri. The Keelhaulers play their opening round game on Wednesday, March 12th at 3:45 p.m. (PST).  Bethel College from Indiana will be Cal Maritime's opponent.

Bethel, who is 26-7 and plays in the prestigious Crossroads League, won its conference tournament title to advance to the national tournament. Bethel's head coach, Mike Lightfoot, has won over 700 games during his tenure including three national championships. The Pilots are led by three standout guards in Ryan Benner, Zach Miller, and Matt Schauss. Benner leads Bethel in scoring at 19.1 points per game. Miller has made an impressive 111 three point shots on the year while shooting 47%, and Schauss is a do it all point guard averaging 15.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.
