Hey, if you're reading this expecting some secret way to slow down Mater Dei's Stanley Johnson, have I got a bridge for you.
There is no way short of sending something like three guys at him -- call it the triangle defense --if slowing down Johnson is the desire. But Coach Lou Ritchie didn't have that option at his disposal because of some other good shooters on the Orange County squad plus 6-foot-9 Michael Cage Jr. in the paint.
What further complicated matters is Richie had no one on his roster who could come anywhere close to physically approaching Johnson's combination pf size, quickness and mobility as the 6-foot-7 star would simply speed past his defender when pressed in the backcourt or on the outside with the ball.
Granted, Ivan Rabb could match up but what a hole that would have put in BOD's defense and all of a sudden asking Rabb to play outside his comfort zone is simply a non-starter.
