Club team talent comings-and-goings

The roster of the top Oakland Soldiers squad will thus far contain:

* Ivan Rabb - no description needed

* Stephen Zimmerman - the 7-foot-1 2015 Las Vegas wunderkind

* Chimezie Metu - a 6-foot-9 junior out of Lawndale High in SoCal

* Rex Pflueger - a 6-foot-5 2015 shooting guard out of Mater Dei

* Derryck Thornton Jr. - a 6-foot-2 2016 backcourter formerly of southern California and now at Findlay Prep.

* Max Hazzard - a 5-foot-11 2015 backcourter out of Loyola High

* Ira Lee - a 6-8 2017 prospect out of Sierra Canyon High down south

This talent influx indicates a dramatic increase in the level of seriousness for the Soldiers this coming season. Would a name change a la the Cali Soldiers be appropriate?

First, Malik Pope headed south last year and now Marquese Chriss and Noah Blackwell are doing the same, hooking up with Team Superstar out of Visalia.

Plus, Sacramento High's Christian Terrell is now with Dream Vision out of Los Angeles.
