Williams goes with the Gators

San Francisco State Coach Paul Trevor has landed Ryne Williams, a 6-foot-10, 220 pound player out of West Ranch High, which is in Valencia in southern California.

Ryne Williams, 2014 C, West Ranch: Williams is a 6’10” post player who, according to onlookers, has come a long way over the past few years. The baby-faced player has some decent post moves, but thrives in the mid-range where he knocks down shot after shot. On defense, he doesn’t block a ton of shots, but alters many shots just because of his size. The obvious area that needs to improve with Williams is his strength and conditioning, as he struggles to make it up the floor for long stretches and struggles against stronger post players with lower centers of gravity. At this stage, Williams is a project, but one with a lot of upside. A college willing to redshirt him a year and bring him along slowly may see good returns by year 3 and 4.
