It was a matchup that really could have gone either way but Arizona seized the opportunity last night and defeated San Diego State 70-64. The Aztecs led 32-28 after the first 20 minutes.
Aaron Gordon was efficient with 15 points (7-9 shooting), six rebounds, two assists and a pair of blocked shots. Oh yes, there was that alley-oop dunk, too. Elliott Pitts got in for four minutes and finished with three points.
Xavier Thames led all scorers with 25 points, this despite being the focal point of the Wildcat defensive efforts all night.
