Cal State San Marcos on top

Cal State San Marcos is a team that includes De'End Parker, Adam Eakles, Tyree Murray and Bobby Macias (Foothill College) so there's plenty of northern California connections. Also, don forget Coach Jim Saia out of Drake High.
The No. 1 Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team received the top seed for the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Conference Men's Division I Basketball Championships and will face the winner of No. 5 Allen and No. 4 West Virginia Tech in the semifinals on Saturday.

Tourney Preview
The Cougars will face the winner of fourth-seeded West Virginia Tech and fifth-seeded Allen on Saturday at noon with a trip to the tittle game on the line. On the other side of the bracket is No. 2 Lindenwood-Belleville (20-10), who will face the victor of No. 3 Life (17-13) and No. 6 Morris (3-17) in the opposite semifinal. LUB and Life have both beaten the No. 1 team at different points of the season.
Tourney History
The A.I.I. crown has been elusive to the Cougars, at least in their first two seasons. In their first appearance in 2012, the Cougars met host Life in the finals, but fell 90-65. Last season in West Virginia, the Cougars garnered the No. 1 seed and had a first round bye, but fell to Voorhees in the semifinals. CSUSM is 1-2 all-time at the conference postseason tournament.
Cougs Makin' Moves
The Cougars have won 19-straight games heading into the A.I.I. Tournament. CSUSM's only loss came at the hands of Hope International on Dec. 7, 2013, 82-67. Since then, the Cougars have shot 49-percent from the floor, averaged 93.6 points per game, and have won each game by an average of 23 points. Five players are averaging double digits during the winning streak.
