The lack of black head coaches in top jobs

Pat Forde has an intriguing article about the dearth of black head coaches in the top jobs of college basketball.

It is surprising that just Ollie and VCU's Shaka Smart run teams in the Top 25. Smart could seemingly write his own ticket but has yet to jump. John Thompson's Georgetown squad has fallen back a bit.

There's also Ed Cooley at Providence, Tennessee's Cuonzo Martin and Danny Manning at Tulsa but none of these schools qualify as big time. Manning is being mentioned in conjunction with Wake Forest but, although an ACC school, it's a second tier member and actually #4 in the Tarheel State behind Duke, North Carolina and North Carolina State.

Ernie Kent is back in the Pac-12 although in one of the most difficult places to succeed and not even considered a top six spot in the conference.
