Host Humboldt State and Chico State took to the court Thursday night and it was the Wildcats ahead 86-68 at the end. The latter was up by six, 48-42 at the half before a 38-26 point differential put the game away.
The big three for CSU were Robert (Granite Bay High) Duncan (22 points, 9-13, 4-5 shooting), Tanner (Fresno State/Windsor High) Giddings (17 points, 8-10 shooting plus 10 boards) and Isaiah (Antelope High) Ellis (14 points, 6-10 shooting). Coach Greg Clink's guys owned the boards 45-21, including 18 offensively.
For HSU and Coach Steve Kinder, Tyras (Sheldon High) Rattler scored 13 points, Rakim (Eastern Washington/Central High) Brown 12, Tom (Diablo Valley College/Arcata High) Witzel 11 and Malik Morgan 10.
