Three candidates for the Pacific opening

With Pacific is search of a new coach, here are three candidates, in no particular order, who should be under consideration:

Greg Clink, Chico State

You want a winning team and academic success from your players? Clink took a moribund Wildcat program and has turned it into a perennial national tournament contender. As to D1 experience, he has assisted at UC Santa Barbara and UC Davis and became associate head coach at the latter. His roster has only players from California so he's very familiar with what should be the foundation for Pacific recruiting. Currently heading a DII program, he certainly has experience with recruiting on a less than bountiful budget. Chico practices and plays with a certain verve, one that is conducive to landing talent.

Bryan Rooney, Cal Maritime

Hiring a Stockton native would be a major plus considering the negative news emanating lately from Tiger hoops. He has coached at Claremont McKenna (down south), San Francisco State and Dominican University and played at St. Mary's (football, one year), San Joaquin Delta College and Dominican. Not counting this season, it's been eight years at the CM helm and 157 victories and each Keelhauler team has been known for a strong collective defensive effort.

Rick Croy, California Baptist

All Croy does is win wherever he is coaching. 50-11 is two seasons at California Baptist in Riverside including a DII Sweet 16 finish. It was three years at St. Mary's before that and the Gaels enjoyed an 80-22 record. He won three straight conference titles at Citrus College with 16 of his guys earning D1 scholarships plus 36 of 37 went on to play at four-year schools. In five seasons there, he compiled a 130-35 record. Croy played at San Francisco State and still holds a number of school records there. He interviewed for the San Jose State University position two years ago.

Each of this trio owns a master's degree and none will require any breaking of the bank to sign.

So who are your offerings?
