Analysis of Evan Fitzner's game

More from Draft Express' Josh Riddell. Go here to sign up for his newletter.

"Evan Fitzner, Saint Mary's: 6'10" sophomore center. Below average athlete but one of only ten players 6'10" or taller to take 100 plus 3's and make at least 35% last season. Limited as a player but can really shoot the ball from the center position. 41% on almost 4 3's per game.

Main question will be whether his stroke can translate to the next level. He shoots a low shot from his chin and did get his shot blocked a few times- including by NBA rookie Pascal Siakim on a closeout. He can pick and pop or spot up but can't do much else offensively. Can put the ball on the ground but not quick enough to drive past anyone - couldn't get a step on Kyle Wiltjer. Thin frame at 225 - can't score down low. Relies on a floater to score inside the arc. Struggles in traffic - panics, isn't composed with the ball.

Defensive liability - can't guard the post, not quick enough to guard perimeter. Has some instincts but lacks athleticism. Doesn't rebound a ton for his size- 6 defensive rebounds per 40.

Value comes from being a center who can shoot. He needs to add strength to be able to defend the block against players his size. He's clearly limited but some NBA teams value shooting from the center spot and he could get some looks down the road. He lacks athleticism but is still young and NBA teams will at least want to monitor him to see if he can provide value as a shooter. Long shot to make the NBA but if he keeps shooting he may get chances down the road."

Catch #21 at 55 (against #11 Sabonis) and 1:30 marks for some one on one driving to the hoop plays.
