The 49ers overcame some foul trouble in the first half to pull away in the second half in an 88-67 road win over Alameda on Wednesday night in the Bay Valley Conference opener.
"It was one of those ugly type of games," said Yuba coach Doug Cornelius. "We didn't play our type of game for large portions of the game. But the guys bounced back and played well down the stretch to get the win."
The 49ers had a balanced scoring effort with six players scoring in double figures led by Jihad Woods, who finished with a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Josh Dhatt added 13 points and backup point guard Brandon Ruaro came off the bench to score 10 points.
Yuba did not escape the game without suffering a devastating blow as starting guard and leading scorer Jaaron Stallworth suffered an ankle injury that could keep him out of action for a while when he came down after getting a rebound in the first half, Cornelius said..."
