Checking in on Greg Somoygi

7-foot-3 junior Greg Somoygi came out of Woodside Priory three years ago as a foreign exchange student and decided to remain in the Golden State while heading south to UC Santa Barbara.

Breaking down his seasonal output to date:

* played in all 31 games as a frosh with five starts, averaging 3.6 points and 1.2 blocks per contest

* as a sophomore, he put up 2.5 points, 2.7 boards and 1.4 shotblocks a game, participating in 28 games with one start

* his junior go-around produced six starts in 32 contests in which he averaged just over 14 minutes a game plus 4.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 61 rejections

The Gauchos are losing a senior big so look for Somoygi's PT to jump in the 2011-2012 season.
