UKIAH — Josh Hayworth led three players in double figures to help guide the College of Marin men's basketball team to an 81-50 road victory against Mendocino on Wednesday night.
Hayworth scored 18 points for the Mariners (14-6, 7-3 Bay Valley Conference). Rashaad Allen scored 14 points and Marin Academy High grad Merlin Edwards scored 12.
COM led 36-18 at the half and didn't look back.
"It was a combination of that we defended and we had guys making shots," COM coach Dave Grannucci said. "We'd been struggling making a lot of shots so it was good to see numerous guys feeling good tonight — feeling comfortable, confident. Holding them to 18 in the half, 50 total on the road ... to do that is pretty impressive and shows how determined and focused our guys were to avenge a loss at home to them in overtime a month ago."
