Modesto JC wins a wild one

Three overtimes.

From the Modesto Bee:
Tashawn Mabry, the Modesto Junior College sophomore forward from North Carolina, turned in his signature performance for the Pirates Saturday night.

Mabry scored 27 points, including his team's first 11 points of the third overtime, during Modesto's thrilling 101-94 Big 8 Conference win over Diablo Valley at MJC Gym.

The Pirates (10-10, 2-4), who've won two of their last three, went heroic against DVC (11-9, 1-5).

Mabry's basket from close range with .8 seconds left in the second overtime drew Modesto even 82-82.

Modesto would have earned the win in regulation, but DVC's Mike Harris connected on a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force the first OT 66-66.

The Pirates eventually outscored Diablo Valley 35-28 during the extra time. Alex Rivera kept them alive with two free throws with 3.5 seconds left in the first OT to tie 74-74.
