Cosumnes River College sophomore Charles Standifer has decided to become a Highlander, signing with UC Riverside and Coach Jim Wooldridge of the Big West Conference.
This past season, the 6-foot-4 wing averaged 20.9 points on 46%, 34% and 70% shooting, the latter achieved on a remarkable 207 foul shot attempts. He also grabbed 6.7 rebounds a contest and passed for 65 assists.
The Highlanders were last in the league in scoring in 2012-13 at 59.8 points an outing so the addition of Standifer will certainly help remedy that ailment.
UCR is making a point of recruiting up north as other northern Californians on its roster are junior Lucas (Piner High) Devenney and freshmen Taylor Johns and Josh Fox, both out of Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep. The former averaged 6.9 points and 4.6 rebounds a game while leading the team in blocked shots -- the latter posted 9.3 points and 6.5 rebounds a game.
