Opening up the vault to 1968, SI's William Johnson profiles the late Bob Presley's life and basketball history in a piece readers will immediately find extremely dated (you'll soon see why).
Presley's basketball numbers at Cal: "averaged 18.9 ppg as a junior and 13.6 ppg as a senior ... grabbed a
school-record 27 rebounds vs. St. Mary's in 1967 ... averaged a
Cal-record 14.5 rpg in 1968, while his career rate of 12.8 rpg is also a
school mark ... had a total of six 20-rebound games."
Here's more on those times -- an excerpt from David Kenneth Wiggins' book "Glory Bound: Black Athletes in White America."
