* Cosumnes River College 72 - Diablo Valley College 64

From the Diablo Valley College Men's Basketball Facebook page:
Tied at 60 late in regulation, A.B. Najee got a big steal with about 6 seconds left, and DVC called timeout. Eric dribbled from near halfcourt to the three point line, and shot as time expired. Just before a potential game winner went through the hoop, a controversial traveling violation was called, and the game went to OT. The Vikings got a nice shot by Big John (Ocon) early in the period to respond to a 3 by Velasco of the Hawks, but struggled to score afterward, while the CRC guards kept penetrating to the hoop and making layups or getting to the line. The final score was CRC 72, DVC 64. Nonetheless, it was a great game between two of the top teams in Northern California. Justin (Yeargin) led the Vikings with 18 (including 15 with three 3's in the first half), while Connor (Jean) and Joe (McNiff) had 13 and 11 each, respectively, including three 3's apiece. Jaycob Velasco led Cosumnes with 23 points, including five 3's; he scored 11 of their first 13 points. It was a close game throughout the 1st half, with the biggest lead at 4; DVC pushed the lead to 7 in the 2nd half, but the Hawks fought back. The Vikings had to play much of the 2nd period without star Jermaine Edmonds Jr., who underwent an unfortunate injury, and had to be helped off the court. We wish Jermaine a speedy recovery! With the loss, the Vikings are now 12-3 overall, and 0-1 in conference play. DVC will look to get back on track this Friday against Sierra College in Rocklin; the Wolverines were defeated tonight at Delta, 71-49. Tipoff of the next game is scheduled for 5:30 P.M. Go Vikings!
Velasco also grabbed 12 boards and Rodney Cook went 14-14 at the foul line on his way to 18 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
