Bruce Pascoe's latest article on Arizona basketball includes this:
"[Brandon] Ashley’s foot will be tested during the full practices ahead, and Miller said he would probably give him a day off occasionally in the next two months.
“We’ve moved at a methodical pace,” Miller said. “To Brandon’s credit, he stayed in Tucson and did everything the doctors asked him to do. …
“He’s been through a lot. When you have it taken away like he had it taken away …. He’s more mature, one of our team’s leaders. He has a great perspective on things. He’s done an incredible job not only on the court but also off the court., helping his teammates, doing a great job in school. I think we’re all proud of Brandon in terms of everything he’s gone through and how he’s handled it.”
Miller said he expected Ashley would be at 100 percent this season but said he might take a month or two to get there.
“The one aspect of a comeback isn’t necessarily his strength ratio between his left and right legs or how high he can jump. All that is good. But you have to play 5 on 5 again. It’s the game. Getting out there every day for weeks, a month, all of a sudden it will only help Brandon.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if maybe he doesn’t hit his stride until after Christmas but if he got off to a good start I think he’s able to do that as well.”
