Was California a solid choice for Jabari Bird?

What Allen Crabbe taketh away, Jabari Bird bringeth.

The Cal junior backcourter and leading Bear scorer is headed to the NBA draft so opportunity will be met with talent as Bird plays the role of successor. Simply put, there is nobody on the current Mike Montgomery roster with the offensive capabilities and potential of Bird.

But critical for him will be adding strength so that college opponents won't be able to muscle him away from his sweet-shooting spots.

Simultaneously, Cal must produce some steady frontcourt scorers so that defenders will be mandated to cheat in helping out inside, thus allowing kickout passes that will end up in the bottom of the net.

Prediction: He ain't goin' nowhere during his time in Berkeley which will probably last three years before the pros come calling.
