Merritt College Coach Keenan McMiller has announced that a quartet of Thunderbirds are moving on to four-year colleges and a trio are Bay Area products.
They are:
* Eric Nelson, (El Cerrito High), 6-foot-7, forward, is headed to Cal State Fullerton of the Big West Conference to play for newly hired Coach Dedrique Taylor, a UC Davis graduate. He sports a 3.2 cumulative grade point average during his time at Merritt and now possesses an A.A. in Business. Nelson will play the three and four spots for the Titans after averaging 11.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game, alongside 99 blocked shots in 2012-13.
* Joshua Amey (Berkeley High), 5-foot-11, point, is moving on to Northwest Nazarene in Idaho. He also possesses a 3.2 cumulative grade point average. In 28 games, Amey compiled 258 assists plus 55 steals, and scored 8.1 points per contest.
* Marcos Castrillo, (Pinole Valley High), 6-foot-7, forward, will be attending Western New Mexico. He makes it a trifecta with his 3.2 grade point average and also owns an A.A. in Business. Castrillo averaged 6.9 points an outing on 48% shooting this season.
* Douglas Anderson, 6-foot-8, forward, is heading back south to Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He posted a cumulative 3.3 grade point average.
