The 2015 Northern California class thus far

The 2015 class in northern California already has given seven verbals to DI, with three more definitely to come.

The seven 'dones' are:

* Anthony Towns committed very early to Pacific

* Marquese Chriss did the same with Washington.

* Jesse Hunt went the Eastern Washington route

* Southern California transplant Kyle Leufroy chose Lehigh

* Colin Russell said yes to Portland

* Josh Patton selected Sacramento State

* Noah Blackwell recently gave Long Beach State the nod (this one is the most intriguing because he could have gone higher but getting on the court as quickly as possible was foremost instead of winning the proverbial 'press conference' that day -- and good for Blackwell)

As for the remainder, Ivan RabbParis Davis and Armani Collins have yet to commit.  Here's guessing Collins signs late in order to hopefully attract more suitors. There's a bundle of potential with the latter but it needs to be backed up by consistent impact.

But do count Marko Filipovics as another possibility alongside Tyrell Alcorn. Let's see what each shows this rapidly approaching season.

Beyond these, there appears to be no current 'guaranteed' DI'ers. Maybe a big or two such as Greg Polosky or Ryan Stewart will entice an offer at that level.

Another talent, Eric Toles, will have both basketball and football options -- not sure which sport he prefers but he should go Di if he choose hoops.

Then there are the many who will be going the DII route. Fans sometimes lowbrow that signing level but fail to consider that a number of these schools actually draw greater numbers and sport a more vociferous fan base than some DIs, especially so in northern California. Simply put, DII can be a better basketball experience.

  1. I'd add a few more to the list:

Isaiah Thomas - He has a D1 body at 6'8" and will likely get looks if he is eligible this year
Lance Coleman - He's got good size at 6'6"..
Jeff Wu - Another MC prospect, I think he already has an offer from Sacramento St
Matt O'Reilly - Campolindo guy, I think he already has an offer from the Patriot League and may end up there
Bernard Ward - I think he's a sleeper prospect, will get some looks.
