UC Santa Cruz freshman center Will Crain (Petaluma, Calif.) has been awarded the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) basketball Player of the Week. Crain led the Banana Slugs with his fifth double-double of the year with 28 points and 11 rebounds as UC Santa Cruz defeated West Coast Baptist in their lone game of the week. The 28 points and five steals were season highs for the freshman who also registered six blocks, tying a school record. Crain ends the year with 344 points, becoming the first freshman to lead the Banana Slugs in scoring since the 2007-2008 season.
