Chaminade took the PacWest Conference championship yesterday by defeating Dominican University 99-83. The Silverswords owned a 50-39 at the half lead and never let the Penguins challenge. In 26 minutes for the islanders, freshman Kiran Shastri totaled 19 points, including 5-8 from beyond the arc.
For Dominican, Myles Carrillo and Matt Hayes each scored 19 points with Dom Taplin finishing at the 18 point mark.
The victors shot 15-26 from long distance to DU's 9-24.
The Penguins conclude the season a very laudatory 22-8.
