Former Newark Memorial High and San Jose State University guard Cheo White is a first-year assistant coach at Las Positas College under Coach Lon Rork, He reports:
"We are improving at Las Positas College and will be participating in the JC showcase at American River College in Sacramento September 27-28. The Las Positas players to watch include 6-foot-3 wing frosh McKayle Harnell, 6-foot-1 sophomore guard Rashad Brackeen and 6-3 freshman guard Marti Fonolla from Spain. Fonolla could be a potential mid-major DI recruit.
We also have another new assistant coach on second-year coach Lon Rork's staff in Marty Levinson. Levinson was a former head coach at one of the top national JCs in Nebraska last year, Central Community College [he also has coached at Pacific, West Valley College and San Jose City College]. We have also added 6-foot-8 sophomore forward Lyle Hexom from Northeast CC in Nebraska. Hexom is a mid-major recruit hearing from schools such as the University of Houston and Nevada. He will redshirt this year for academic reasons and I project that he will be the top JC player in northern California next season. He has the skill set of a wing, shoots NBA range three, and is athletic enough for high major DI ball."
