Lassen Community College Coach Devin Aye has a pair of former Bay Area prepsters returning to the court with his Cougars.
Sammy Allen, a product of Alameda High School class of 2011 where he averaged 19 points as a senior guard, has made his way back to Lassen Community College. Sammy will be a sophomore this year for Coach Devin Aye’s Lassen College Cougars.
As a freshman at LCC, Allen led Lassen to a Golden Valley Conference championship while averaging 11.6 points, four rebounds and three assists per game.
“He took last year off and has come back with better academics, and a much improved body,” Lassen Coach Devin Aye said. “He has also improved his maturity and leadership. If he continues to stay consistent ,he will be a force and should get lots of recruitment from universities.”
Coach Aye also said "Sammy showed up to campus this year 6-foot-1 210, which is 15 pounds lighter than his freshman season.
Leroy Anderson, a product of Castlemont High School class of 2011, has also come back to Lassen College for his sophomore season. As a freshman on LCC’s championship squad, Anderson was awarded All-Conference honors with averages of 9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, while also shooting 57% from the field.
Anderson has also improved his academics while coming in with an added 10 pounds of muscle.
According to Coach Aye, “Leroy is now 6-foot-6 195, and has improved in all aspects of his game. Leroy is a very athletic lefty who can play all positions and is a very good defender and rebounder. He should get lots of recruitment as well this coming year once coaches see him."
