This is pretty remarkable -- Sac State basketball aces in the classroom

Late in catching this:

"The Sacramento State men's basketball program posted its highest grade point average in school history during the 2014 spring semester, finishing with a cumulative mark of 3.092.

Of the 14 players on Sacramento State's roster during the 2013-14 season, nine finished with a spring term grade point average above a 3.0.

In addition, the men's basketball program's 3.092 gpa was the fifth best mark among all of Sacramento State's intercollegiate programs, and was the top mark among the men's sports.

For the entire 2013-14 academic year, the team finished with a 3.043 gpa (after posting a 2.986 in the fall), and now as an overall mark of 2.887.

Under the guidance of head coach Brian Katz, the program has seen a steady rise in the team's grade point average. In fact, the team had just a 2.241 gpa during the 2010 fall semester, and that mark has been on the rise ever since.

Moreover, Katz's players graduate at a high rate. Academically, of the 18 Hornets that have expired their eligibility under Katz, 16 have graduated..."
