A few thoughts on the Nor Cal Regional brackets

A few thoughts on the Nor Cal Regional bracket:

* Contra Costa College and Cosumnes River College on Friday will be like a track meet. Who will be the first to drop the baton and will/can the other take advantage?

* Chabot College and Monterey Peninsula College is another terrific Friday pairing.

* Can Akil Douglas carry San Jose City College far enough on Saturday to challenge Fresno City College?

* Cabrillo College versus College of the Sequoias means the Seahawks will face a really good big in the person of 6-foot-8 Dida Pereira which was a not too often occurrence this season. Against SJCC and Douglas this season, Cabrillo won 58-55 and lost 63-59.

* Butte College and City College of San Francisco--if it comes to that-- should be a real good one to watch.

* Having both Las Positas College and Cosumnes River College both in the playoffs with first-year rosters is remarkable. Congrats to the coaches and players on those two squads.

So it looks like one team made it from the Bay Valley Conference, four from the Big 8 Conference, four from the Central Valley Conference, four from the Coast-North Conference and three from the Coast-South Conference.

    1. Can't say I know all that much about the particulars at Lassen but the first things that comes to mind is lack of stability.

There has been too much volatility in the head coach position there. Just look at how long the other coaches in the Golden Valley Conference have been in place.

It also appears to be a spot where recruiting connections are critical since the paucity of locals is so evident.

Coach Freedman needs a few years of recruiting classes in place in order to fully demonstrate his capabilities.
