"Chico State sophomore forward Isaiah Ellis was crucial in the Wildcats 2-0 weekend, which included a significant victory over No. 6-nationally ranked UC San Diego, earning him his first-ever California Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor.
Ellis averaged 19.5 points on 65-percent shooting, six rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game.
Friday night, in the top-10 showdown, Ellis was outstanding, scoring 20 of his career-high 26 points in the second half to lead the No. 9 Wildcats to a 77-71 win over the Tritons. The Antelope product hit seven-of-11 shots from the floor and 12-of-13 from the charity stripe, while also totaling four rebounds, two steals and a block in a contest which moved Chico into first in the CCAA standings.
The following night, in a 91-77 overtime win at Cal State San Bernardino, Ellis finished with 13 points, eight rebounds and two blocks shots."
