With the Missouri football team unwilling to play an upcoming game against BYU (racial irony abounds!), the powers-that-be at the university folded and the school president and chancellor have now resigned. Football Coach Gary Pinkel did the very unusual -- he supported his players even as the highest paid employee of the state.
Background:
Dave Zirin's "3 Lessons From University of Missouri President Tim Wolfe’s Resignation"
Matt Hayes "Missouri football players force change by making people listen"
For some fascinating reading here's Kellen Winslow talking about his decades ago time at Mizzou. He might as well be talking about the present.
This really isn't about Tim Wolfe, it's much larger than that. But his hire, his values and plan of action for the university obviously dovetailed with those in charge. Who are they? Why are they in their respective positions? All of this and so much more must be examined if our ailing nation is ever to have the chance to move forward.
