California put the game away in the first half with a 47-28 margin and turned back visiting UC Santa Barbara 85-67 on Monday. Tyrone Wallace finished with 24 points, Ivan (Bishop O'Dowd) Rabb 12 and Jabari (Salesian High) Bird 10. Rabb shot 10-10 from the foul line.
For the Gauchos, it was Mike (Foothill High) Bryson in the lead with 23 points while John (Westwind Prep/Castlemont High) Green totaled 12.
