Nor Cal State Stat Stars of the Week

CalHiPreps has posted its State Stats Stars of the Week and the northern Caklifornia honorees are:

Jordan Brown (Woodcreek, Roseville)
Averaging 26.3 points and 14.7 rebounds per game, this 6-foot-10 sophomore and the 2015 Cal-Hi Sports State Freshman of the Year scored 34 points and grabbed 18 rebounds during a 71-68 win over Oak Ridge of El Dorado Hills in Sierra Foothill League play.

Joey Calcaterra (Marin Catholic, Kentfield)
Following up his 38-point and 10-rebound performance from the week before, the Wildcats’ junior captain had another nice night with 30 points but it wasn’t enough to prevent an 85-68 loss against Drake of San Anselmo.

Tyler Green (Enterprise, Redding)
He helped the Hornets sting arch-rival Shasta of Redding in a 57-49 victory by piling up 34 points. Green, who also had 10 rebounds, scored 23 of his points in the first half.

Christian Fulch (Gunderson, San Jose)
The Grizzlies remained in first place in the BVAL thanks to a 63-58 win over Leland of San Jose and state stat star James Kelbert. Fulch, a 6-foot-7 junior, led the way with 28 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks.

Isaiah Hood (Bentley, Lafayette)
In a 69-53 victory over Redwood Christian of Castro Valley, Hood was more than good. The junior forward finished with 35 points, 19 rebounds and six assists.

Eddy Ionescu (Miramonte, Orinda)
The brother of girls’ State Player of the Year frontrunner Sabrina Ionescu has been lighting up the scoreboard himself in recent weeks. Ionescu had 36 points, eight rebounds and five blocks in a 65-49 victory last week vs. Alhambra of Martinez and also had 27 points and 13 rebounds when Miramonte beat Campolindo of Moraga 60-48.

James Kelbert (Leland, San Jose)
Although the week ended with Leland losing a tough contest to Leigh of San Jose, Kelbert had a monster outing earlier in the week. The returning All-Mercury News pick scored 38 points to lead the Chargers past Prospect of Saratoga 66-63. Kelbert, who has been a consistent 20 ppg scorer the last two seasons, played last summer for the U17 team from the Virgin Islands and also is one of the top water polo goalies in Northern California.

Patrick Pancho (San Lorenzo)
There certainly are some high-scoring sophomores in Northern California this season and Pancho is another one. The 6-foot-3 wing player scored 35 points in a 76-58 victory over Tennyson of Hayward. He also made five 3-pointers.
