Cal Baptist turned back Minnesota State - Moorhead 84-80 in overtime on Friday powered by 27 points plus 11 boards by junior Michael (El Camino High) Smith. He shot 8-14 overall and added 11 free throws in 42 minutes of action. Teammate Jordan (San Ramon Valley High/St. Mary's) Giusti tallied 12 on 5-6 shooting.
Come Saturday, it was 79-68 versus Alaska Anchorage with Smith scoring 17 points and Giusti 16. The latter shot 4-5 from long distance while also contributing four assists and four steals.
For AA, former Santa Rosa JC frontcourter Corey Hammel posted a 12 point, 11 rebound double-double.
