From here:
DEVON DANIELS, guard, 6-foot-5, Prolific Prep, Calif.
A Michigan native, Daniels is a versatile four-star guard with size and toughness that the Utes think can be dynamic in the backcourt. He was a star at Kalamazoo Central High, where he averaged 16 points, 6 rebounds and four assists per game. He's spending his senior year at prep school in Napa, Calif.
Daniels told the Tribune that he had family fly from Michigan to California to attend his signing day ceremony.
"It was just a great feeling," he said. "I know I'm blessed. It's just one more step where I want to be. … I'm going to give my best effort, play hard, play as a teammate and really just bring what I can to the table."
Daniels will help offset the losses of Jordan Loveridge and Dakarai Tucker next year, who will graduate in the spring.
Krystkowiak's take: "We are extremely excited to have Devon join us next fall. Devon brings in a level of toughness and versatility to our guard spot, both offensively and on the defensive side of the court. He is capable of guarding the opposing team’s best player, which is key in a league where you face several good players night in and night out. From a character standpoint, Devon is a great example of the kind of player we look for and he will be a tremendous asset to the program."
