Yee-Stephens signs with Southern Utah

From Southern Utah Thunderbirds athletics:

"Southern Utah University men’s basketball head coach Nick Robinson has announced the signing of Santa Cruz (CA) High School’s Kaijae Yee-Stephens to a national letter of intent.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kaijae to the SUU family.  He has great character, work ethic, and is willing to compete daily both on the court and in the classroom,” said Coach Robinson.

Regarded as one of the top shooters in Northern California, Yee-Stephens, a 6’2” guard, averaged 21.5 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while leading SCHS to their second consecutive Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League Championship, and a Division 4 Central Coast Section Championship.  His efforts earned him 1st Team All-League honors during the 2014-2015 junior campaign, and League MVP honors during his 2013-2014 sophomore season.  Kaijae also excels in the classroom maintaining a 4.0 GPA while taking AP and Honors courses, and being selected to the CCS Dean’s List.

“SUU has a very strong coaching staff that has genuinely believed in my ability to excel at the next level.  That is why I chose to come to SUU,” said Yee-Stephens.

Yee-Stephens also competed on the 2015 AAU Summer Circuit with the Golden State Arsenal coached by former University of California standout Ayinde Ubaka.

“Kaijae is a player that works very hard and is a student of the game!  His heart, dedication, and work ethic will be greatly missed at Santa Cruz, but knowing he is going on to do what he loves makes us all happy,” said Coach Lawan Millhouse – head basketball coach at Santa Cruz HS."
