The latest on Malik Pope

Mark Ziegler on Malik Pope: "...NBA scouts are starting to take notice again, less because Pope has shown flashes of his five-star potential than because he’s doing it on a consistent basis. Tuesday was the fourth time in the last six games he’s scored at least 15 points after doing it just twice in his first 57 college games.

ESPN draft guru Chad Ford has been his biggest supporter, projecting him as a lottery pick if he left after last season and listing him as the No. 8 prospect on his “Big Board” before this one. The love faded as Pope’s game did, but after 19 points and 11 rebounds on national TV against Fresno State last Saturday, Ford tweeted: “Looked like a lottery pick today.”

Two minutes later he added: “Pope has been awful most of the year. But in last 5 averaging 15 ppg, 6 rpg, 12-20 from 3. Might sneak back into 1st rd on sheer potential...”
