Nor Cal as a Big Dance minor player

Not a lot of northern California-based teams "qualified" for the Big Dance--just California which fell in the opening round on Friday. There is also just a minuscule number of players connected to the upper part of the Golden State who are playing on teams located elsewhere but participating in the NCAA tournament..

In a way, that total seems baffling but there simply haven't been a lot of Nor Cal prospects signing with teams in competition for conference tournament championships.

Here are the 12 player names and their minutes on the court for Thursday and Friday, the openings days for Big Dance action:

* Utah's Gabe Bealer - one minute
* Hawaii's Roderick Bobbitt - 40 minutes
* Michigan's Aubrey Dawkins - seven minutes
* Cal's Stephen Domingo - 14 minutes
* Kentucky's Marcus Lee - 14 minutes
* Oregon State's Langston Morris-Walker - 12 minutes
* Cal's Ivan Rabb - 38 minutes
* Hawaii's Quincy Smith - 34 minutes
* Pittsburgh's Sterling Smith - 2 minutes
* Texas' Isaiah Taylor - 37 minutes
* Arizona's Mark Tollefsen - seven minutes
* Michigan's D.J. Wilson - DNP

The guess is that six or so of these players won't be on a college roster next season due to completed eligibility or the lure of the NBA.
